Looking Back on February & Looking Ahead to the Coming Months

Hello, dear person who is reading this right now,
I hope you are doing well, wherever you are in this wild world.

This newsletter is going to be a short recap of my participation in the PhotoSchweiz exhibition and the masterclasses I taught there, a look ahead to upcoming events, and at the end a little glimpse into what I have recently created.

PhotoSchweiz

…was a really nice experience! It was great to step out of my introverted comfort zone and talk to visitors of the exhibition who looked at my work. Quite a few wonderful conversations were a nice reward for that. Thanks again to Aurelia Marine for inviting me as your wild card for this inspiring event!

I also taught two masterclasses at PhotoSchweiz about my work process and creative techniques which was yet again such a beautiful reminder of how much I love sharing and advising on how to practising what I learned through photography. Thanks to the sweet people who joined those two classes!

All in all, it was a nice little adventure and a great way to celebrate my birthday. Big thanks to my family for coming to visit me there. <3

Upcoming events

I will be a speaker at Uncover Festival — March 13th to 16th — in Guimarães, Portugal. I still have one free ticket to give to the first person who claims it—so if you are nearby and want to join, let me know by replying to this newsletter.

Also, as mentioned last time, I will be teaching workshops at Horizonte Zingst (in Germany) at the end of May again this year. Now I know, my absolute favorite thing is happening: I will be teaching two workshops on creative portrait photography (a short and a long one), AND one workshop on my interview/portrait project, "Beauty of Age." I’m sorry to say (but also crazy excited) that this last one is already sold out! (Apparently, there’s a waiting list if you’d like to join.)

Who of you is planning to be in Zingst this year?

In between all this we are busy packing up our life in Rotterdam and will soon start anew in the south of Germany. Probably from May onwards I will be back in my beloved mountain landscape — you will find us on the rocks a lot from them on.

Let me know if any of you are climbing in that area :)

As promised above, here is a little glimpse into one a piece I worked on:
- Morph -

Created thanks to the people who are part of my Patreon group:

Our theme of the month was 'unrecognisable.' I decided to visualise a process of metamorphosis and, through that, become unrecognisable compared to the old version.

A new theme is voted on in the group every month, and it’s amazing to see all the different approaches from the participants at the end of each month. (I will share some favourites and more about that topic next time.)

Come join us there if you want to see my work more regularly and look at unedited versions and outtakes, or if you need a little push and a spark for your creativity!

Thaaat’s it for today. Thank you for following along this journey.

Yours
— Laura
